October 2: The Feast of Saint John Lester

¹ Let it be known that before the righteous red can of Folgers was cast away, it was beloved by all. ² For my father, John, drank two pots daily, plain and black, made from said Sir Mr. Coffee. He began each morning without ceremony or apology, and called it good. ³ On this day, the second of October, we do not scorn the can, nor sour-face it with pretentiousness — we raise it up. ⁴ Let pots be brewed, unashamed, without measurements or fancy waters, and let them be poured for any who would remember him. ⁵ For he was a great man of action across multiple ventures, speaking few words, and beloved by many.

October 18: The Feast of Saint Marylee

¹ Let it be known henceforth that on this day we shall use only the finest bean. ² We shall craft the holiest, most pure of cups that wo/man may brewith. ³ For the eighteenth of October shall be venerated as Peach Day. ⁴ O Marylee, most creative and goofy of ladies, thy name shall be spoken with joy and gratitude for all thou hast given to thy offspring and community. ⁵ We shall sacrifice a can of peaches upon the altar of our pie holes, and savor the taste of thy everlasting brilliance. ⁶ We will cleanse the land of debris cast forth upon our parking lot of gathering, and revel in gratitude that ye lived a life that was a model for us all. ⁷ Cast ye no sorrow — nay, for today shall be full of laughter and beauty and tablescapes. ⁸ So say we all.
